Services & Rates
Skilled Hands. Specific Purpose.
At Healwell Portland, every modality we offer is selected for its clinical value. We specialize in therapeutic and medically oriented massage — not relaxation-first spa services, but targeted work that moves your recovery and your body forward.
MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE (MLD)
What it is:
Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a highly specialized, gentle massage technique that stimulates the lymphatic system to move fluid, reduce swelling, and support immune function. Our therapist is certified in the internationally recognized Vodder technique — the gold standard in MLD training.
Who it's for:
• Post-surgical patients (plastic surgery, orthopedic, general)
• Lipedema and lymphedema management
• Chronic swelling or fluid retention
• Pre-surgical preparation
• Immune system support and detoxification
What to expect:
MLD uses light, rhythmic strokes that follow lymphatic pathways. Sessions are gentle but deeply effective. Many post-surgical patients notice reduced swelling, improved comfort, and faster wound healing with regular treatment.
Certifications: MLD-C (Vodder), ACOLS Certified
Rates 60 minutes $140 | 90 minutes $210
POST-SURGICAL MASSAGE
What it is:
Post-surgical massage is specialized bodywork designed to support the body's healing process following surgery. Julianne holds advanced training specifically in post-surgical plastic surgery massage, making Healwell one of the most qualified practices in Portland for this type of care.
Specialties include:
• Post-liposuction massage (primary specialty)
• Tummy tuck / abdominoplasty recovery
• Breast augmentation, reduction, and reconstruction
• Body contouring procedures
• Orthopedic joint replacement recovery (hip, knee, shoulder)
• General post-operative care
Why it matters:
Surgery — even expertly performed — creates trauma to the body's tissues. Without proper aftercare, patients are at higher risk for fibrosis (internal scar tissue), prolonged swelling, uneven results, and a slower, more uncomfortable recovery. Post-surgical massage directly addresses these risks.
Timing:
We work with your surgical team's clearance. Many patients begin MLD within the first week post-op. Advanced massage techniques are introduced as healing progresses.
Rates 60 minutes $140 | 90 minutes $210
FIBROSIS MASSAGE
What it is:
Fibrosis is the formation of internal scar tissue following surgery, inflammation, or injury. Left untreated, it can cause hardness, lumps, skin irregularities, restricted movement, and pain. Fibrosis massage uses specific techniques to soften and break down this tissue — restoring suppleness, improving contour, and reducing discomfort.
Who it's for:
• Post-liposuction patients experiencing hardness or uneven texture
• Anyone with residual firmness after surgical healing
• Patients experiencing post-surgical skin irregularities
MYOFASCIAL RELEASE
What it is:
Myofascial release is a therapeutic technique that targets the fascia — the connective tissue that surrounds muscles, organs, and structures throughout the body. When fascia becomes tight or restricted, it can cause pain, limited range of motion, and postural imbalance. Myofascial release uses sustained pressure to gently release these restrictions.
Who it's for:
• Chronic pain and tension
• Post-surgical recovery
• Restricted movement or range of motion
• Postural imbalances
Rates 60 minutes $130 | 90 Minutes $175
MEDICAL MASSAGE
What it is:
Medical massage is physician-referred or clinically directed massage therapy targeting a specific condition, injury, or area of dysfunction. Sessions are outcome-focused and documented, making them appropriate for insurance billing and physician coordination.
Conditions treated include:
• Musculoskeletal injury
• Motor vehicle accident recovery (PIP billing available)
• Post-orthopedic surgery rehabilitation
• Chronic pain management
• Edema and swelling management
Insurance: We accept Anthem BCBS, Premera, Regence, and other BCBS plans for medical massage when covered. PIP billing available for MVA patients.
A Note on Our Approach
We do not offer extremelydeep tissue massage. Our work is precise, evidence-informed, and appropriate for clients with sensitive post-surgical tissue, medical conditions, and complex recovery needs. If you are unsure which service is right for you, we encourage you to call us — we are happy to talk through your situation before you book.
